A much anticpated "high class chinese restaurant" with a million dollar refit before reopening in Geelong was a bitter disappointment on our first visit (Wednesday 30 July 2008).
Service was poor and slow. Banquet servings was very slow in delivery and dishes were not introduced. Drinks had to be requested twice. Steak in one of the courses was red raw and inedibile ! No one sought feedback by general inquiry at the end of the meal.
Our rating was 2 out of 10. Would I go then again ? never ! Especially as one of our party telephoned the next day and provided some geniune unemotional feedback was brushed off with "we are just ironing out a few teething problems" - if you had at least offered an apology let alone a free drink at our next visit we would have come again ! |

Interesting observations Barry, I've seen the full-page ads in the local paper for the last couple of months and must admit I was expecting something pretty classy from those. And in all fairness some of the problems might actually be teething problems, maybe I'll wait a few more weeks before checking it out... _________________ “Blessed are the Cheese Makers!” - Jesus, in the Life of Brian |

Also, I believe the restaurant we're referring to is actually Man Bo - I know that's the one I meant. _________________ “Blessed are the Cheese Makers!” - Jesus, in the Life of Brian |

Coudnt agree more.Took friends there on 30th August and felt dissapointed and ripped off.High prices do not a high class restaurante make.Service was poor even though we seemed outnumbered by staff.Main courses did not arrive together,we were told the kitchen was busy!
The table was cleared before we were finished eating in an attempt to get rid of us to accomodate later customers. Not at all acceptable in a classy eatery.
Before refurbishment the food, service and prices were good.I went there last november, really enjoyed it for much less than half the cost. Will I go back? never.
Its been dressed up but its all fur coat and no knickers.Plenty of chinese restaurants around that dont charge $50 for the cheapest bottle of merlot,$12 for a third of a glass of bubbly and $20 corkage byo.
Cant see it lasting in Geelong once the novelty wears off. |
